HQ, shop and refreshments...
Daily opening times 2010:
- 16 January - 31 March: 9.30am - 3.30pm
- 1 April - 31 October: 9.30am - 5.00pm
- 1 November to 24 December: 9.30am - 3.30pm
Operating from a vintage portacabin at the Canal Basin, is the Canal Trust Headquarters and a well-stocked shop / cafe. You can take your refreshments at the outside seating in a lovely setting, ideal for the casual visitor or if you are waiting for your boat trip. The peaceful surroundings offer a pleasant place to sit and watch the world go by over a cup of coffee.

A wide range of refreshments are available including hot and cold drinks, fresh sandwiches, salads, home-made cakes, confectionery, biscuits, crisps and snacks. You can also get hand-made ice cream made from the milk of the cows in the fields bordering the canal. Click on the picture to find out more: |

The HQ and shop are run by volunteers who are happy to provide any information on the Canal Trust and it's activities. They will take rowing boat bookings and same day reservations for the scheduled daily Egremont boat trips. Visitors will find a good supply of leaflets advertising a wide range of other local tourist attractions. They will also find that the shop staff are a mine of information about the history of the canal and things to see and do in the area.

We expect significant changes in the near future. Through the generosity of Osbornes, a local Chichester company situated on the south side of the basin, a new shop for the use of the Canal Trust will be built behind the present portacabin which itself will have to be moved during the construction period. Additionally, landscaping of the basin area is likely to occur in the near future. The Trust apologises to our visitors for the inconvenience they may experience while visiting but they are assured of a warm welcome and a good cup of coffee at all times.
