Safety checks all complete
Getting our cars MOT’d usually involves a drive to the garage and a slightly anxious wait while safety checks are completed to ensure that are vehicles are roadworthy. Getting a regular safety check on our boats is a whole different ball game!
The Maritime and Coastal Agency (MCA) is the responsible body for ensuring that any craft carrying paying passengers on waterways are fit for purpose, ensuring the safety of our passengers. In February, much activity took place at the Canal Basin, when our larger boat, MS Richmond was lifted out of the water using a crane. This is a highly skilled job, undertaken by specialist contractors and the event attracts much local attention from passers by. There is then a reverse procedure to lower Richmond back into the water.
Much to our delight, the MCA passed Richmond with flying colours!
