Boat lifts

A spectacle to behold

On 10th January 2024  Chichester Canal Trust will be lifting various  boats from the Canal Basin to land on the south side of the car park  so there will be no parking from 2pm on Tuesday, 9th January 2024 at the Canal Basin  until  early late afternoon on Wednesday, 10th January 2024.

The access will be closed from Poyntz bridge up to the Richmond Arms public house for walkers and cyclists, routes available via Stockbridge Road to the Cafe and city centre.

We will advise you of any changes to this programme.

Limited parking will continue while the boats are docked in the car park for the next few weeks.

This is a spectacular sight so you are welcome to view activities from the Cafe upper or the north side of the Basin along basin road on 0th January.
