Erecting a polytunnel

After a number of Trust discussions and meetings with a specialist contractor, step 1 of our Richmond refurbishment project is complete…. moving pontoons and berthing of Richmond in her new temporary home within an agricultural polytunnel. First of all we had to erect and stablise the frame to ensure that the tunnel would not take off and shroud the Royal Mail vans opposite, next there was much reading of instructions and thinking as to how best to install the polythene cover and finally, the temporary fixture was in place.

Step 2 is now underway with local company Harbourcraft working hard to strip down many coats of paint ready to apply primers, base coats and blue and cream yacht enamel to match Kingfisher. Watch this space for the continuing story and do visit Harbourcraft’s facebook page to see James Bellhouse at work.
