Boat trips...

Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of nature by taking a trip on Egremont, the ever popular 12-seater narrow boat, providing a clear view of the canal banks and a wide variety of wildlife.

Or perhaps you would like to charter a boat for a lunch or dinner cruise?

Larger parties will appreciate the comfort and facilities on Richmond, our widebeam boat which can seat up to 42.

Both boats ply the navigable section of the canal which runs 2 miles from the canal basin to the Crosbie bridge at Donnington.

We pride ourselves on being able to accommodate disabled passengers - see below.

Canal boat Egremont

The Egremont operates four scheduled trips daily from spring to autumn and is also available for charter cruises throughout the year.  Passengers are offered a relaxing 75 minute trip with a friendly crew able to provide information about the canal history, points of interest along the route and the local wildlife.  Check here for the full details of the scheduled trips.

The Richmond operates charter cruises throughout the year to celebrate your special occasion: lunch, tea and dinner parties, birthdays, anniversaries, corporate hospitality etc.  The boat offers a venue with a difference: a continuously changing scene in the heart of the countryside.  As with the scheduled trips, there is a friendly crew able to offer local information, but the boat will also accommodate music, dancing or other entertainment you might like to organise.

Canal boat Richmond

Both boats are used for Easter Bunny trips and Father Christmas trips, aimed at providing a fun experience for young children and their families, together with an excellent value, personalised gift.

Our new Sundowners cruises and Rhythm & Cruise trips run monthly on summer Friday evenings to give adults an informative and relaxing end to the week.

During the Chichester Jazz Festival Richmond is used for jazz trip s, where fans can enjoy the music of a jazz duo with a glass of wine or beer.

Disabled Access

There is a ramp from the basin pedestrian area to the boat pontoon and each of the boats has a lift to lower passengers or wheelchairs to cabin level.  This means that disabled passengers do not have to use steps and that wheel chairs can be accommodated.  The toilet / washroom facilities on board Richmond are not accessible by wheel chair.

Only a limited number of wheelchairs can be accommodated: up to three on Richmond and one on Egremont.  It is possible to take motorized wheelchairs on Richmond (up to two), but because of the limited size of Egremont most motorized wheelchairs will not fit.  Please check in advance with the Bookings Manager to ensure that individual requirements can be met.

We have volunteers with sign language ability who can help the hard of hearing (please mention requests for assistance when booking).

To ensure trips depart on time please arrive a good 15 minutes before departure.
