Thank you to our wonderful supporters!

We are delighted to let you know that we have reached the target of £10,000 in our crowd-funding campaign! You may remember we launched this to benefit from funding from the County Council’s Community Initiative Fund. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, including individual donations, local businesses and resident organisations, and the hard work of our volunteers, we hit our target on Monday evening, 16 November.

This is really worth celebrating. Not only because it brings a magnificent boost to our fundraising campaign, but because it helps us unlock contributions from grant-funding organisations and importantly raises our profile as the ‘charity behind the canal’.

You may ask – well what now? This was the first step on our major campaign to secure £200,000, and we are not resting on our laurels. We are switching to a permanent online donation website http://www.justgiving.com/campaign/chichestercanalWe know the spacehive website wasn’t easy for people to use, and we hope that JustGiving will be much more familiar and enable more people to support us. We’re also really happy to receive donations in the Cafe. We continue to apply for grant applications, which will form the bulk of the funding we require, and hope to have positive news to share in the new year. Major Mick, of ‘Tintanic’ fame, continues to raise the profile of the canal for us, and is now donating anything he collects while rowing, to the Trust. We are grateful for his support.

We’ll circulate another update mid-December, as we have more good news to share (but are just waiting to sign the paperwork). Do keep an eye on our website and on our social media.

In the meantime, thank you for your continued support.
