We’re one of the top 10% of worldwide tourist attractions
This year, Tripadvisor has combed through reviews, ratings and saves from travellers globally, and used that information to recognise the very best. Chichester Ship Canal Trust is thrilled to receive a ‘Travellers Choice’ award for 2020; this places us in the top 10% of attractions worldwide. Many people looking for somewhere local to explore during the restrictions were stunned to find the Canal right on their doorstep, commenting ‘why haven’t we been here before?’ The award is testament to the many hours of hard work that all the volunteers contribute to this much-appreciated and well-used facility.
The Canal has a unique heritage (commemorating 200 years in 2022) as well as prolific and often rare wildlife, such as bats and the iconic kingfisher. The benefit to the mental and physical health and well-being of our local community and visitors is immeasurable, particularly during these tricky times. It’s a space to explore both on and off the water, to enjoy wildlife, to find solitude or meet friends.

This TripAdvisor award shows that it’s special not only to tourists, but also to our local community, who value and access the Canal regularly. We’d like to thank all our volunteers for their contribution and commitment, and to those who have taken the time to share their positive feedback’.
We welcome everyone and are delighted that people of all ages can enjoy walks, row boats, fishing, boat cruises, learning about our heritage and light refreshments.
