All aboard for the first trip of the year
We couldn’t have asked for a better day to kick off the first Chichester Canal boat cruise of the year. On 17th February, at 12pm, the sun shone down on a full complement of 22 happy passengers ready to sit themselves down on Kingfisher’s comfortable new seats.
Malcolm and Dorothy, the volunteer crew, were keen as mustard to get back out on to the water, ready to do what they do best. It was the perfect time to celebrate Dorothy’s 6th anniversary crewing our two passenger boats. Congratulations Dorothy. And thank you for your time and dedication. Chichester Canal wouldn’t be the same without our band of brilliant volunteers.
After a cold few weeks the sun turned the Canal Basin into a hive of activity. Wildlife entertained Kingfisher’s passengers and members of the public took full advantage of the canal. Model boats sailed alongside canoeists. Mark, one of the Canal’s resident paddle boarders took his dog Benny out on his board for a pre-spring paddle.
All the action on the Canal Basin provided entertainment for customers of the Chichester Canal Cafe. It was a busy day for the volunteers behind the counter armed with not only a wide range of drinks and snacks but also dog biscuits for the Canal’s four legged friends.
With the weather improving and spring just around the corner trips on Kingfisher and Richmond are booking up fast.
