Rotary annual dragon boat races draw in the crowds
On Sunday, 10th June, the weather was kind to us and 12 teams grabbed their oars and took to the water. Hundreds turned out to support their teams or just to sit and enjoy the fun.
This event is arranged each year by Rotary and profits are given to Cancerwise.
With a bumper team turnout, competition was fierce and even an oar was broken. (We hope NOT over a competitor’s head!). The senior teams battled hard to break the 1 minute and 2 seconds initially set by our own Canal Canhardlies…. and two of them did.
Congratulations to the winners “Nuff the Magic Dragon” aka Nuffield Health and runners up “Seas the Day” aka Thesis Asset Management. In the youth section “Ghostriders” aka Barnham Scouts, won with 12th Chichester Scouts coming in a worthy second place.
Thank you to Tania Flavin who submitted photos. And a very special thank you to the Chichester and Bognor Downs Syndrome group and supporting dancers. They danced their hearts out for at least an hour and boy, were they good!
