Introducing our bunnies
Chichester Canal’s ever popular Easter Bunny trips are scheduled to start again on 12th April 2019. Tickets have been selling fast since they went on sale in February. With only a few tickets left the trips are expected to be a sell out. These trips wouldn’t be a success if it wasn’t for the brilliant Canal volunteers who skipper and crew the boats while the Easter Bunnies do the entertaining.
This Easter there are four excited bunnies, 3 of them brand new. Lael Smith, Lily Lynn and Cara Redman are led by Funmi Ajayi, a member of Chichester Festival Youth Theatre, who was also one of last year bunnies. Pleased with the opportunity, all said they would put the experience on their CV.
Richmond departs from the Canal Basin with refreshments served on the way to Hunston. Here, the Easter Bunnies welcome the families with singing and (weather depending) there’s time for a leg stretch and photo opportunity. The Bunnies join the boat for the return trip to the Basin. There will be colouring, singing and dancing and children will be offered a chocolate egg and a bunny biscuit. Leaving the boat, each child receives a soft toy, while adults receive flowers, and there’s a chance for further photos.
The girls explained why they wanted to be an Easter Bunny and what it means to them. Both Lily and Funmi say that being a bunny will give them more confidence by meeting people. Very important for Funmi who is considering a career in Law. Cara, who wants a career in performance, is pleased she can put a relevant job role on her CV. Lael, who did her own face paint and is interested in becoming a stage make-up artist put it the best when she said simply “I get a kick out of entertaining.”
