Bunny boat trips, colourful cafe and a SUP Easter egg hunt

Well it’s all over for another year! Thanks to the fabulous weather we had a bumper customer turnout over Easter. Volunteers dressed up and decorated the boat and Cafe to add to the fun.

This year’s 4 Easter Bunnies went above and beyond to deliver an unforgettable trip for children and adult alike. One customer commented that it was amazing value for just £10.40. We won’t argue, especially considering that drinks, hot cross buns, cheese biscuits and a ginger bunny biscuit for each child were all served up once Richmond departed from the Basin.

Hopping aboard at Hunston, the Bunnies wasted no time getting the party started. Funmi, this year’s  lead Bunny, told us how the children on boards not only sang the fastest version of “heads, shoulders, knees and toes” that she had ever sung. But they were far better than her too. They also played hot cross buns, coloured in and gave out small chocolate eggs.

As passengers alighted Richmond it was impossible to ignore all the beaming smiles. Cara and Funmi lined up to give each child a soft toy and each adult received a bunch of flowers. Passenger Marion Cree explained “the trip was really fun and just a lovely way to spend an hour and a half. Great to watch the Canal wildlife as well as seeing the children enjoy themselves so much.

To top it all, on Easter Monday, TJ Boardhire led a paddleboarding Easter egg hunt, adding to the colour on the water.

Thank you to all of our volunteers who made the weekend so successful. We look forward to seeing our many visitors again soon.
