Over 60 backers contribute more than £5000
It has been a fantastic start to Chichester Ship Canal Trust’s fundraising efforts. We are raising funds to shore up the eroding banks of the canal and ensure the towpath and the waterway are safe for the future. Thanks to over 60 supporters, more than £5000 has been raised within the first 3 weeks, half of the £10,000 target we set ourselves to raise by 1st December.
And it is not just individuals that are reaching into their pockets at this difficult time. Local estate agents Hancock and Partners have made a generous contribution towards the Canal’s future. Their MD, Sam Love, said;
“At Hancock and Partners, we are thrilled to be supporting the Chichester Canal’s fundraising campaign to raise funds for the repairs to the banks. The canal is a feature point for the City and offers so many opportunities to so many people as well as providing a home to a vast array of wildlife. As a keen water sports enthusiast myself, having the canal available for kayakers and paddleboarders is great, enabling individuals to get on to the water, exercise and enjoy the outdoors”.
Canal volunteer, Janet Osborne, one of Chichester Canal’s fundraising co-ordinators, commented;
“The canal has always been a community hub, but the support we have received has shown us just how important the place is to the people of Chichester and the surrounding area. Having local businesses support us is the icing on the cake and we are thrilled with the donation from Hancock and Partners”.
