A day of celebrations
One date for your diary is the flagship ‘200th Anniversary Celebration Event’ on Saturday 9th April 2022. We’re inviting the community to the Basin, where the event will begin at 11am with short speeches – we’re delighted that the High Sheriff of West Sussex will be joining us. This will be followed by a gunfire salute from the Fort Cumberland Guard.
There will be live music, stalls, food, entertainment, children’s activities and water-based displays including our 1950’s vintage tugs, canoe club and model boats. Land-based exhibitions will feature knitted bunting, volunteer stories and our heritage centre display.
The day will culminate in a flotilla along the canal arriving at the Basin at 3pm, where the Mayor and Mayoress of Chichester will receive the flotilla and conclude the day.
This really is a community event for everyone, so do please spread the word and invite friends, family and colleagues to join us.
