Meet us on the Cathedral Green to find out how you can help

On Friday 7 June between 11 a.m. and 3p.m. Voluntary Action in Arun and Chichester (VAAC for short) is organising a volunteering recruitment event on the Cathedral Green. They are partnering with the Cathedral to host this event, and expect to have 25 organisations there…. including us. This event is part of a series of promotions during Volunteers Week (1 to 7 June).

If you have ever been interested in volunteering then this is a great opportunity to talk with different local charities. You may even find a role to throw yourself in to..

On our stand there will be a number of volunteers, including a boat skipper, Trustee, cabin crew and a boat maintenance person. They will all be happy to share their experiences with you. There are volunteer roles for everyone, regardless of your age or skillset.

Canal leaflets will be available, so feel free to take 2 and give one to a friend. There will be colourful adverts to illustrate what we do. We can offer roles that are suitable for people who want something to keep them busy, to ones for busy folk who would like to help but don’t have much spare time. In fact, if you’re one of the latter and would like to contribute something, no matter how small, why not enquire about micro-volunteering?

Micro volunteering has really taken off in the UK and is designed for those with just a little time to offer on a “no strings attached” basis. Examples include sharing social media posts, dropping off a few leaflets to a local pub, taking and submitting photos to us while you are enjoying the Canal. Typically, this appeals to students, those who work full time or busy retirees.

So please do drop by and say hello, we’d love to see you. Perhaps during your lunch break or during a City shopping trip.  But if you don’t have time, you can always take a look at a few of the recent opportunities advertised on the VAAC website.
