Novium Museum launches canal exhibition 26th March

Learn about Chichester Canal 1822 – 2022

We are delighted that the Novium are curating an exhibition about Chichester Canal, as part of the Season of Culture. The exhibition will open on 26th March and conclude in April 2023.

There will be three sections to the exhibition. The first will provide the historical context, the background to the canal, why it was built and some of those involved in its construction.

The second section will focus on the operations of the canal – what it was used for, the type of goods transported, and why it was ultimately unsuccessful.

The third element will focus on the canal today – looking at the many different ways the canal is enjoyed by local residents and visitors from far and wide; it will feature oral and film contributions too.

The exhibition is being curated by the museum, with support from Canal Trust volunteers.
