Portsmouth & Arundel Canal walk Sat 11 May at 10 a.m.
Do come and join an informative walk along part of the old Portsmouth and Arundel Canal from Barnham Station to Chichester, 7 miles. You can see many Canal remains along the way….
Burndell Bridge is one of only three surviving bridges from the original 18 brick-arch bridges on the Ford to Hunston section of the Portsmouth to Arundel Canal. There are continuing discussions locally on how best to preserve this heritage asset in Yapton.
Sussex Industrial Archaeological Society conducted extensive restoration work of St Giles Bridge, at Merston between 2005 and 2010 . It is on private land, and by arrangement you may access it by contacting the Friends of the Old Ford to Hunston Canal group on Facebook.
Our thanks to Friends of Old Ford and Hunston Canal group for this information.
