MCA check and engine change
On a very wet early morning last week, Richmond was lifted out of the water by a very large crane. it’s that time of year for her inspection by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Fingers crossed for a “pass”. Meantime, Canal Trust volunteers will be carrying out necessary underwater maintenance and installing a new engine with its ancillary machinery. With an anticipated 30 year life (at least) and 15 years gone already, it is time for an engine change. She will be out of the water until late February.
The Canal Trust asks that due care be taken when passing Richmond and apologises for any inconvenience this necessary work causes.
