Watersports for all
The Wheelyboat Trust, based in Petworth, provides support to organisations who wish to get individuals suffering with mobility difficulties onto the water. As part of a publicity campaign, a demonstration boat came to the canal recently to show its remarkable capability.
Sadly, it has now returned (by road!) to Petworth but if you know of anyone who would like to get onto Chichester Harbour, then visit www.jqdwheelyboat.co.uk which gives detail of where a similar boat can be seen (though a little updating of this website is required).
Chichester Canal, of course, has facilities for the mobility impaired already in that both its tripboats have lifts for wheelchairs – so access to Chichester’s Canal is very much available to everyone.
