Meet our volunteers to find out how you could help
To mark the Coronation organisations across the country will be providing opportunities to help out in local communities through ‘The Big Help Out’ on Monday, 8th May. This is a great opportunity for the Canal team to showcase what we all do; we will be running various activities between 10am and 3pm on the day.
We will give you a warm welcome and introduction to the upkeep and maintenance of the Canal by the Work Party, taking you along the towpath at 11:30 and 13:30 by foot to see what is involved.
The Tug Crew will showcase workings of the Tugs and demonstrate their ability.
Skippers, Mates and Cabin Crew will be on hand to give a talk and tour of Richmond during the day with timed boat trips at 11:00 and 13:30 on Richmond. Cabin Crew will serve complimentary tea and coffee and give an introduction to our private/public catering charter trips.
Kingfisher crew will be out on the water at 10:15 ,12:00 and 13:45 to showcase the Canal and introduce you to daily scheduled boat trips.
The engineering team will show you what is involved with engine maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
Marketing is an essential tool, so recruitment for our comms team could be just as rewarding if you would prefer to volunteer at home. The Marketing Team will be on hand on the day.
The Community Team will welcome families to the Heritage Centre to show the Art work and craft that they offer on ‘Fun Days’, as well as information re our Educational Trips.
The Canal Cafe is the hub of the canal so our teams will be on hand to say hello and give everyone a warm welcome.
And we can tell you about the fun we have at our volunteer parties!
