Congratulations to our Vice President

On behalf of the Chichester Ship Canal Trust, we’d like to offer Tony French our warmest congratulations at being given the Freedom of the City of Chichester.

We understand that he first became involved with the Canal during his time as Chairman of Chichester District Council (1995-99). His input at that time was to suggest ways that the Canal could apply for fundraising grants and finance. The Duke of Richmond requested that he might step into the role of our Vice President.  A wise choice indeed!

A different side of Canal activity was seen when Tony trained as a Skipper on our trip boats. It is wonderful how popular our two boats are, whether on a scheduled trip, a Fish and Chip cruise or our ever-popular Father Christmas trips. We receive such positive feedback from our customers on our boat trips, as seen in our recent entry into the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame.

We are delighted that despite no longer being a Skipper, Tony remains involved in the Canal in his vital role as Vice President. The support that both he and Rachael offer to the Canal Trust is much appreciated, by all the volunteers and members, who give so much to make the Canal the very special place it is.

Thank you
